The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, along with his wife, Ms. Maja Ivanova, and their son Ivan, today, on the occasion of May 15, the International Day of Families, visited the Petrovski family in Dracevo, Skopje, which currently fosters four socially disadvantaged children.

The warmth of the home of the 66-years old Trajanka Petrovska has been felt by about 50 children in the past 28 years. She says that the care for the children is what makes her happy and gives her health and vitality.

"I had a daughter who died at 15 years and therefore I decided to foster children, despite my four. I applied in the social centre to be a foster parent, for the health of my children. Even today I foster children and I will foster as long as I am healthy. I will do this, regardless of the age of the child. I accept all children. Fostering children makes me happy. It gives me health, vitality, energy. I care for them, I clean, do laundry, bath them, accompany them to school", Petrovska said.

The youngest member of the family is 9 months old, and the oldest member is 13 years of age. Some of the children she fostered are married, have their own home and pay often visits to her. The tradition of fostering children is followed by the family of her son Oliver, who informed today President Ivanov on their humanitarian mission.

The Macedonian President expressed deep respect for the work of the Petrovski family, adding that the immeasurable humanity of these people is an example for all our citizens.

"Macedonia has always been a country where people helped each other, shared their joys and their pains. Macedonians are known for goodness. Your family is an amazing example of that", President Ivanov said in the home of the Petrovski family.

They received gifts from the Ivanov family, necessary to meet their daily needs.

Ms. Trajanka, expressing her desire for a home full of children, promised that she will always provide care to those who need it most.
