The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, received today representatives of the Parliamentary Council of Roma MPs, consisted of members of the national parliaments of European countries.

Stressing that the Roma in the Republic of Macedonia are constitutionally recognized and that the Republic of Macedonia is continuously making efforts to improve their socio-economic situation, President Ivanov welcomed the initiative for the establishment of the Parliamentary Council and added that the Republic of Macedonia is ready to share the positive experiences of the Roma Decade. The conclusion, however, was that the Roma in the European countries should have a decent life adequate to the 21st century.

The guests expressed their thankfulness for the support and said that it is not by accident that the Republic of Macedonia is hosting the initial meeting for the establishment of the Parliamentary Council of Roma.
