The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, received today the students with the highest GPA in the field of social science faculties at the State University of Tetovo.
As part of the meeting, 30 best students had the opportunity to share their views and opinions to improve the quality of the education system in the country.
President Ivanov said that of particular importance is the promotion of the practical part of the training, which, in fact, prepares the students to acquire professional skills. In this context, the President emphasized that there is investment in training and advancement of professors, which is one of the key commitments of the European and world educational trends. In the regular meetings I have with the best students from several universities across the country, I repeatedly stress that educated people are the driving force of development and progress of our country. Knowledge and experience you gain in the educational process, should in the future be invested in developing all aspects of society, President Ivanov said.
Zeixhana Osmani, a third year political science student at the dispersed studies at the SUT in Skopje, finds that in the future there should be more debates of this kind, and with other state institutions and a number of factors in the state to consider student’s problems. For me personally, this meeting was particularly significant because we had the opportunity to openly debate with the President all our problems, issues and needs. We talked about the conditions offered by the university, the study programs, the cooperation of the University with other universities, as well as the cooperation with the companies, Osmani said. Magdalena Bozinovska, a student at the Faculty of Philology, department of Macedonian language and literature, said that the topic of discussion of the meeting was primarily the Bologna system. There is currently lack of practical work and teaching, in our university and in others. I would like to express my gratitude to President Ivanov who received us here in his office to hear our ideas and concerns about the current and further studying. The goal, of course, is to achieve better results and to have better quality studies, Bozinovska said.
At the meeting, views were exchanged on the current opportunities for student exchanges with foreign universities, facilitating student access to textbooks and databases, and on the improvement of the student status by involving students in projects organized by faculties and promotion of the cooperation with the institutions through those projects. At the same time, President Ivanov congratulated the best students of the State University in Tetovo the success achieved and wished even greater academic and profession achievements.
