IRI Survey: Growing confidence of citizens in President Ivanov

In the latest public opinion survey, conducted by the International Republican Institute-IRI, 58% of the respondents said they have positive opinion regarding President Ivanov, which means an increase of 21% compared with the IRI surveys of September and December 2010, when 37% of the citizens had positive opinion regarding the Head of State. 34% of the respondents, asked the same question, said they have negative opinion regarding President Ivanov.

In reference of the support of the Euro-Atlantic integration, the latest research of IRI shows a slight decline compared to the previous survey. NATO accession is supported by 87% of the respondents, compared to 4 years ago, when there was 91% support, while the EU accession is supported by 84% respondents compared to the previous period, when the support was 87%.

The question: Do you think that Macedonia is closer to the EU compared to four years ago, 58% of the respondents believe that we are closer to the EU, 23% do not believe in that and 19% said they do not know. The latest IRI survey was conducted in the period 15 - 21 November 2012, on a sample of more than 1.100 respondents.
