Meeting with US President Obama at the reception organized in honor of the Heads of Delegations attending the UN General Assembly

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, in New York attended the reception hosted by the President of the United States in honor of the Heads of Delegations participating at the 67th United Nations General Assembly, where he met with the US President Barack Obama. At the meeting, during the reception hosted by the US President, President Ivanov asked the US support to the Republic of Macedonia for NATO membership to continue.
President Obama said that the United States give strong support for the Republic of Macedonia’s integration in NATO. The US President expressed at the same time his appreciation for the contribution that Macedonia provides for the military missions such as the mission in Afghanistan.
The US President at the meeting with President Ivanov encouraged the dialogue of the Republic of Macedonia and Greece to overcome the name dispute, hoping that a solution would be found. President Obama said that he knows that it is necessary to work for Macedonia’s accession to NATO.
