Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand visits the Republic of Macedonia

princeza_tajland_2The wife of the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Maja Ivanova, hosted Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand, who is paying a visit to the Republic of Macedonia.
 

During the two-day visit to Macedonia, the Thai Princess visited some of the significant cultural - historical sites in Macedonia and got acquainted with the rich Macedonian culture, history and tradition.
 

At the meeting, Princess Maha Chakri and the President’s wife, Ms. Maja Ivanova, shared opinions and ideas for cooperation in the areas and activities they have in common and are part of the agendas of the two ladies.
 

Ms. Ivanova informed about the projects she is involved in and supports in the Republic of Macedonia. In this context, the wife of the Macedonian President referred to the initiatives taking place under her auspices related to women and children, primarily to the activities related to children with disabilities and child nutrition.
 

Both ladies agreed that this is a good opportunity and open door for possible future cooperation in the areas and topics they share common interest in.
 

princeza_tajlandThe Thai princess expressed appreciation for the hospitality in Macedonia, expressing readiness to initiate future joint activities through exchange of experiences and knowledge.
 

During her stay in Skopje, Mrs. Ivanova and Princess Maha Chakri visited the Monastery of St. Panteleimon and the complex “Macedonian Village” in Nerezi.
 

Princess Maha Chakri visited the Archaeological Museum, the Church of St. Spas, the Millennium Cross in Vodno, the Painted Mosque in Tetovo, the Matka Canyon, the Cave Vrelo, and strolled the Old Bazaar in Skopje and the Square “Macedonia”.
 

Within the visit, the Thai Princess was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Foundation “Alliance of Civilizations” - Skopje.
 

Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn is the third child of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit of Thailand. She is the sister of the current King Maha Vajiralongkorn. The Thai Princess is a Special Ambassador to the UN World Food Program and Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO for empowerment of minority children through education and protection of their intangible cultural heritage. In the past, she taught history at the Royal Military Academy in Thailand and now holds social and charitable functions and is chair of philanthropic organizations and foundations in her state.

The first lady of the Republic of Macedonia, Mrs Maja Ivanova, has a BC in law, and write poetry in her spare time.
