The meeting of President Ivanov and Minister Liberman was devoted to reviewing the relations between the two countries in the context of frequent and high level meetings which contribute to a new quality in the relations between Macedonia and Israel. President Ivanov, who visited Israel last October, pointed out that the two countries have excellent bilateral relations and expressed his satisfaction of the cooperation in the field of security, democratic development and economic progress. They agreed that the deep historical links between the two peoples and their shared destines are an important moment that contributes to the mutual understanding. President Ivanov expressed the Macedonian views regarding the difference over the name with our southern neighbor, imposed by Greece as a precondition for Macedonia’s integration in NATO and the European Union. The President pointed out that a Macedonian membership in NATO and EU would significantly contribute to the economic development and further spreading of stability in South-Eastern Europe. Minister Liberman pointed out that Macedonia is a country contributing not only to regional stability and security, but also to international security by participating in peace missions in the world crisis zones, but also through its unique model of democracy, tolerance and coexistence. Regarding the strengthening of economic cooperation, President Ivanov greeted the inclusion of representatives of Israeli companies in the delegation of Minister Liberman. The President reaffirmed the interest of the Republic of Macedonia for cooperation with top Israeli companies in the field of hi-tech, agriculture and other areas. |
